Down to Earth - Earth Day Canada - Summer 2019

Earth Day Canada

It’s True. It's Summer!

Earth Day Canada is helping people spend quality time outdoors every day to support health, happiness, and the planet. With a mandate to encourage outdoor play and build resilient communities, our programs provide resources and tools for parents, neighbourhoods, schools, educators, and policy-makers. Here’s what’s happening . . .

Thank You for Supporting Earth Day 2019

This Earth Day, we asked people across Canada to engage in one very simple act: #FreeYourPlay with Kamik and Earth Day Canada! Now that Earth Day is over, we hope that you will promise to keep getting outside and sharing how you #FreeYourPlay with us. Let’s keep having fun in the mud, climbing trees, and finding new ways to connect with nature – together!

#FREEYOURPLAY CAMPAIGN

#FreeYourPlay at stackt MARKET!

We’re popping up at stackt MARKET this summer as part of Urban Discovery! Earth Day Canada, stackt, and the Children’s Discovery Centre are hosting outdoor POP-UP Adventure Playgrounds – presented by Kamik and Earth Day Canada – every Tuesday throughout July. Urban Discovery will provide a space where kids from 5-12 can build, invent, create, and play freely to their hearts’ content!

The Urban Discovery project is funded by the Public Space Incubator, a project of Park People generously supported by Ken and Eti Greenberg and the Balsam Foundation.

Engaged Employees Drive Sustainability

EcoConnexions – Earth Day Canada and CN’s employee engagement partnership program – has spent recent months tackling important sustainability issues. Mindful of both environmental and social sustainability, EcoConnexions launched a bin sorting campaign to reduce corporate waste, and is now embarking on a housekeeping campaign to keep rail equipment organized and valued employees safe from harm.
